Campus Involvement

Colgate has a number of organizations unique to our campus that help to promote our tradition as a university as well as create growth and advancement as a community, and our sisters’ continued involvement these groups has been crucial to advancing both of these efforts on our campus. Each year, our chapter promotes decades-long Colgate tradition with the induction of a few of our seniors into a prestigious honors society known as Konosioni, a group integral to preserving the legacies of Colgate and developing community bonds.

At the same time, our members are propelling our campus into the future in their involvement on campus, perhaps most notably in our chapter’s representation within Colgate’s new Thought Into Action Student Incubator (TIA). In working with TIA, students—with the guidance of mentors—can take their ideas to develop non-for-profits, entrepreneurial endeavors, or campus initiatives. This year, two of our wonderful seniors used the program to launch an application called Late Date, in which those looking for a date to a last minute event can be set up with a match. Similarly, many of our sisters are trying to make our campus a better place for students to come as a result of their involvement in Colgate’s sustainability program, which aims to be carbon neutral by 2019.

While Zeta Rho’s members are engaged in activities that are specific to Colgate’s unique efforts, we are also involved in many nationally recognized groups on campus. Our sisters are also involved in and collaborate with LGBTQ initiatives that are becoming more prominent across campuses countrywide in order to create a more welcoming environment for all types of students. Our sisters help to host and plan these LGBTQ events and participate in educational sessions on campus each semester.

Additionally, Zeta Rho has many sisters on D1 athletic teams.  Many of our sisters compete and excel in Colgate’s D1 sports, including within women’s lacrosse, soccer, field hockey, and tennis teams. We also have sisters that compete in club sports on campus, including squash, skiing, and soccer.
